SHINE Outreach
The SHINE Outreach Program places student volunteers in various youth-serving agencies in Edmonton. Volunteers support existing youth drop-in programs and deliver public health presentations on STIs, drug abuse, and addiction.
Through this program, SHINE hopes to increase awareness of the clinic and its services with potential patients, and empower high-risk youth to learn more about staying healthy.
The Outreach program gives SHINE volunteers - our health care professionals of tomorrow - exposure to Edmonton’s inner city and the opportunity to build rapport with high-risk youth.
For more information or to get involved with SHINE’s Outreach Program as an agency or volunteer, please contact Jessica Nicoll at external@shineclinic.ca..
Community BBQ
An annual event, our fall BBQ is a huge celebration to kick-off another year of SHINE. Serving several hundred people each year, the day serves as a chance for volunteers to engage the community around the clinic and draw attention to the variety of necessary services SHINE provides. University students and health care professionals who are interested in becoming part of SHINE can tour the clinic and learn more about the impact it has had on the Edmonton core.
